The last RAV4 wasn’t much of an off-road machine. Sure, the AWD system was just as capable as the base AWD system in a Cherokee, but the rest of the RAV just wasn’t set up with even mild trails in mind. The new RAV4 is an entirely different animal. With 8.6 inches of clearance (the same as found in the most-capable Cherokee model), improved overhangs and the only limited slip rear differential in the segment, the new RAV4 Adventure can quite simply go more places than the competition… Except for the Jeep. Even with all the changes, this isn’t a RAV4 rock crawler and that’s fine by me. With the new model launched for 2019, we don’t expect any changes for 2020.
