Acura Confirms the Integra Type S is Coming

The Acura Integra Type S is official. Today, Honda’s luxury arm released some camouflaged photos and provided new insight on the upcoming hot Integra. We knew this car was coming, but now we have some answers to a few common questions about this upcoming Type S entry. Will it be offered with Super-Handling AWD (SH-AWD)? No, not that we are aware of. Will it offer an automatic transmission? No, not that we are aware of. Like the Civic Type R, it will be powered by a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential powering the front wheels, but its exact power figures remain to be seen.

The new 2023 Civic Type R is noticeably less refined and daily-drivable than the previous one, with a pretty rough ride even in its softest setting. The Integra Type S has the chance to rectify that and give customers a more mature and comfortable Type R experience. Judging by these camouflaged prototypes, the Type S will have more aggressive details in the fascias and grille, but will forgo the Type R’s massive rear spoiler. The three exhaust ports mean we can expect the same or similar active exhaust system from he Civic, though that system could benefit from further tuning, in our opinion. It simply doesn’t sound as good as some of its competitors.

The third chapter of Acura’s Type S story goes on sale next Summer as a 2024 model. More on the Acura Integra Type S here.
