Toyota working on a lifeline for the manual transmission.

Toyota Corolla manual transmission

Toyota has filed for a patent on a manual transmission for electric powertrains. Traditional transmissions don’t serve a purpose in electric propulsion, but the Japanese automaker wants to make sure people who want to row their own gears can still do so on a potential future bZ model. Its operation will be very much like that of a real stick shift, but most of the feedback will be artificial and actuated by pedal force and other factors. More on this here.

The Mercedes-AMG EQE will be revealed tomorrow.

2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE

The Mercedes-Benz EQS (or how I believe it should be denoted: Mercedes-EQS) will be joined by a smaller sibling this year, the EQE. The electric E-Class equivalent, it is smaller in footprint on the exterior but just as large on the inside. Its base powertrain, however, is somewhat of a lightweight compared to competitors. Ford Maverick DIY accessories

One of the cool features of the Ford Maverick is the sprinkling of proprietary anchor points inside the car that allows the attachment of DIY accessories such as cupholders and phone mounts. There is an entire collection of accessories made by various people around the world with 3D printers on Thingiverse. Known as FITS accessories (Ford Integrated Tether System), today Ford released instructions/blueprints for various accessories you can download and print. There are also options for people who don’t own 3D printers, which is likely most of us. You can purchase pre-made accessories on Etsy and eBay, or vendor sites. More on this here.

The Acura Integra becomes open for pre-order soon.

2022 Acura Integra Prototype

The new Acura Integra will go into production sometime this year, even though there hasn’t been a reveal of the production spec yet. We know it will be built at the Marysville, Ohio plant, but today Acura provided a new point in the timeline with a date for when it will become available for pre-order. The books will open in the beginning of March, more on that here.
