Nissan Rogue Sport Dead in the U.S.

Nissan Rogue Sport Dead in the U.S.: According to a memo recently sent out to U.S. dealerships, Nissan has decided not to move forward with a second-generation Rogue Sport for our market. The Qashqai, the European model it is based on, has already received a redesign that would align with a second generation Sport here, but apparently there are multiple reasons why it won’t be brought over this time. The first is due to lackluster demand. The current model was introduced to the U.S. back in 2017, but by 2019, sales numbers were not as successful as Nissan had hoped. Then they brought the smaller (but not that much smaller) Kicks into the mix, which turned out to be a much more appealing vehicle in just about every way. The third generation Nissan Rogue has also gone upmarket just a bit, making the price gap between it and the Sport more substantial.

Production of the Rogue Sport will officially cease in December, with sales trailing off into 2023. Nissan will provide parts support for the next ten years, but has not plans to bring a direct replacement. Removing this model from production gives Nissan more room to build the Kicks and Rogue, which are doing very well.

More on the demise of the Nissan Rogue Sport here.
