The Grown Up Altima? | 2020 Nissan Maxima Review

The Nissan Maxima  is one of the brand’s most iconic nameplates yet it sits in an odd spot. It slots above the Altima yet its interior is smaller than that sedan. So, why not buy an Altima instead? Simple. You want something a little more luxurious that’s also good to drive. Nissan has positioned the Maxima as a sportier option, offering good handling without sacrificing ride quality. Even in the SR trim, which gets a host of suspension tweaks plus a couple tricks to help it corner better, the Maxima remains a compelling option if you’re looking for a sporty daily driver.

Nissan’s V6 is a sweet engine, too. You got lots of power and it sounded good too. Sure its paired to a CVT but at least it did its on and put the V6 to good use. One problem is price. Would you really spend more for a car with less space? Some would be fine with it because you get a better driving experience. Unfortunately, that’s only a small portion of consumers and the large sedan segment is a dwindling one to boot.

Let’s take a deep dive into the Nissan Maxima and see if it still has a place in the Nissan lineup.
