2023 Kia Stinger Tribute Edition|||||||

What’s Really Replacing the Kia Stinger?

The Kia Stinger was one of the shining examples of Hyundai Motor Group’s willingness to take risks. Unfortunately, the masses didn’t see it quite that way. 2023 will be its final year, and to honor the legend, Kia is sending the Stinger off into the sunset with this final Tribute Edition. Only 1,000 units are being built worldwide (a plaque on the side of the car shows which number you have), and you have the choice of Ascot Green or this lovely Moonscape matte gray paint. The wheels are gloss black versions of the 19″ ones from the Grand Tourer Special Edition.

Inside, you’ll find a Terracotta brown leather trim with headrests that feature a wasp-shaped emblem signifying the exclusiveness of the Tribute Edition. The only engine choice is the 3.3L twin-turbo V6 making 368 horsepower & 376 lb.-ft. of torque. Speaking of that engine, Kia has for awhile now said that the EV6 GT will stand in as the Stinger GT’s spiritual successor. The EV6 GT is fantastically quick and handles like a proper performance car, but it’s not quite a sedan like the Stinger was.

That leads us back to Kia’s announcement in early 2021 that seven new EVs would be launching by 2027. We now have EV6 and EV9, but if you take a look at the teaser image in this gallery, you’ll see a shadowy vehicle at the end of the row on the right that looks more like a proper sedan.

More on Kia’s future EV plan here.
